A Storm Is Brewing

I have a shaman called Chenchella. She’s like the ugly step-child who isn’t allowed downstairs when the family has guests over. Poor little Chenchella gets even less love than Lylithia does. That was until last weekend when I did something crazy. I respecced. I queued up for Battlegrounds. I liked it. Um, what? Neri as ranged DPS? Neri PvPing? Before you ask, yes I am actually unwell at the moment, but that’s beside the point. Sometimes I get angry. Disconcur even jokes that he can tell when I haven’t had a snack in a while, because he can see my rage bar filling faster than I can spam Execute. It’s a lie. Sometimes a girl just needs to throw lightning at people, and it turns out that my Elemental Shaman has just the tool for the job.

The perfect tool for releasing rage!

Thunderstorm ALL the things!

At level 10, a young shaman is given the choice between three specialisations. Enhancement is great for those who like to hit things with lightning charged weapons, Restoration is for those crazy cats who like to see health bars go up and not down, and then there is Elemental. Oh, Elemental, you sweet, sweet monster, you. If you select Elemental at level 10, you gain access to Thunderstorm.

Perhaps you’re not in the dark ages and already realise this, but do you know what I can do with this spell that breaks even the darkest of moods? I charge in to a bunch of Alliance who are huddled around the flag in Eye of the Storm and I send them flying to their deaths! Thought you were going to grab that flag, did you? Wrong! You get to die instead! Mwhahaha! I got one player the other day who would have been milliseconds from successfully picking the flag up. I swear I could feel the nerd rage through the monitor! Oh, it was so delicious. I may die nine times out of ten when trying to pull this off, but even if I get one person it is completely worth it. I will never grow tired of it!

Chenchella has a lot of pent up frustration.

Electric Play Time

It’s very peculiar that I’ve had such a PvP epiphany, but it’s also incredibly timely. My adventures in World of Warcraft have been fairly average of late, especially now that our guild has finished up raiding for this expansion. I have been logging in simply to try and make as much gold as possible and offer some support to my Alliance guild. It has been far too long since I have cheered out loud about something that has happened in the game. This new adventure into PvP (Strangely, the usual trolls that seem to fill up level 85 BG’s and LFR are absent, which is also nice!) has me excited. I’m actually glad that Chenchella is leveling at a snail’s pace, since most of what I’m doing is enjoyable. There is no pressure to get to 85 to participate in raids, gear up and grind my face off. This will be my ninth character to work through Wrath of the Lich King content, and I really can’t stomach Dragonblight yet again! One little spell on a character I have never really played before has completely changed my gaming experience. No more Stonecore! No more Dragon Soul! Instead, I’m on the hunt for new and exciting ways to kill people with Thunderstorm.

I hear Arathi Basin has a few ledges. I wonder how far I can knock someone back from the Lumber Mill?

How have you survived the pre-expansion snooze fest? Have you had your life changed by a new class, spec or aspect of the game, or did you stray from World of Warcraft altogether? Share your experiences in the comments below!

The Transmog Tournament is on again, and this month we’re showing off our Faction Pride! Entries close this Friday, August 24, so you still have time to throw together and entry. There are two Blizzard Store pets up for grabs! More info can be found here.

  1. From experience against the boomkin who usually haunt LM… the fall goes vertical pretty quickly, but that’s a good thing unless you want ‘em landing in the pond around BS. Just have a Flame Shock handy for if the perfidous buggers try something smart, like a slow fall or levitate.

If you have engineering, try Rocket Boosts + parachute off LM. You can get to the mine with a bit of luck. :D
