I had grand dreams for posts this week. First I was going to write about the removal of Have Group Will Travel. Then I was going to write about what signs to look out for in a dud officer (WoW Insider beat me to that one, albeit Scott Andrews took a much kinder angle than I was going to!). Too bad I’m being fisted by germs again, eh. I’ve even lost my voice! Instead, I’ve taken inspiration from Prinnie Dood’s, Character Futures and Stuff and I’m going to talk about my toons! (By talk, I mostly mean, “Show off my transmog”.) I know, I know, there is no way this post will be as well written and humorous as Prinnie’s, but if I don’t spam someone with some mindless drivel, I’ll probably explode.
Meet Nerisetta
Nerisetta is an Affliction Warlock who hasn’t even spent her talents yet. There’s nothing really exciting to note about her, other than she has made me an absolute fortune with the Obsidian Shuffle. Since I’ve barely done anything with her, bar getting carried through Dragon Soul a few times, she doesn’t have much in the way of tier gear to pick for transmogrification. The look you see above has been achieved mostly through various Justice Points vendors throughout Azeroth. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?
Shoulders: Plagueheart Shoulderpads - You can either run Naxx for these, or purchase the token from the Legacy Justice Quartermaster in Dalaran for 417 Justice Points.
Chest: Shroud of the Lore`nial - You can purchase these robes from Anwehu in Shattrah City for 520 Justice Points.
Gloves: Mana-Etched Gloves - Drops off Omor the Unscarred in Heroic Hellfire Ramparts.
Waist: Chillbane Belt – Drops from Arcurion in Hour of Twilight.
Back: Hidden
Feet: Boots of the Darkwalker - Drops off Watchkeeper Gargolmar in Heroic Hellfire Ramparts. Since they’re barely seen, you can get away with just about anything.
Weapon: Trail of Embers - Bought from Justice Vendor in Stormwind or Orgrimmar for 700 Justice Points. I love that wands are main hand weapons now!
.
VERDICT: I feel this outfit still needs a bit of work. The gloves are all wrong, and so is the weapon, but I’m too lazy to do any research into what items would work better. Considering she lives purely to prospect and smelt, I think she looks pretty darned fine! I especially like how the belt works so well with the robes, and the terrible aura the shoulders give off.
Nerisetta’s Future come September 25
As a Miner and Jewelcrafter, she certainly won’t be left to rot on the character screen, but I can’t say I’m overly excited to play her. I still have a bad taste in my mouth over how poorly she performed in Dragon Soul and I suppose I’ve lost a lot of confidence in my ability to play the class. I have heard nothing but glowing reviews about the 5.0.4 changes, and with deliciously evil reads like Warlockery and Blood Pact, I imagine I will get curious and take Nerisetta out to kill some pandas eventually. I just need some time for those old wounds to heal.
How about you? Have the 5.0.4 changes got you dusting off the ol’ alt Warlock and taking it out for a spin? What are your thoughts? Entertain me in the comments below!

For me, the 5.0 changes have actually! Though I am cheating. I am multiboxing other toons and then granting the levels to my lock
Our resident guild lock has been very excited about the changes, and with ‘have group will travel’ now gone, I want that extra summoning utility!
I also realised that my lock was my very second toon ever created back in wrath. And she has factioned changed, and server transferred and still never made it past level 22 (and I have 5 lvl85s! I feel guilty and have decided it’s finally her turn to play with the big kids ;D)
Thanks for the kind words! If it makes Nerisetta feel any better, she’s not the WORST worst warlock to walk the face of Azeroth, since she’s actually gotten somewhere AS a warlock. Mechbeth has been a warlock twice (once goblin, level 5, then as a blood elf, never past level 1), and recently switched to paladin, which must mean that she was just such an epic failure at warlocking, the demonds said to hell with her and sent her off to the Light.
We could have a club. “World’s Worst Warlocks.”
Actually, that sounds like a great guild name …
Haha, I love the idea of the World’s Worst Warlock club! Nerisetta can definitely get in on that
And just like that in one expansion, or even one patch, Blizzard has already begun to dilute the great bloodline of warlocks with filth … I mean hai thur
Warlocks are likely one of the most rewarding classes I think someone can play. I have always felt that its been a fun class to play and now with the changes made it is only going to better. Of course there will always be those who do not do well with it but the same can be said of any class really. It all comes down to the effort you put into it really.
As for the whole “worst warlock” thing, given the influx of new warlock players trust me when I say you’ll get along just fine
At the moment our theory crafting is still some what fluid, with several areas still under investigation making it a good time to learn as there is plenty of healthy discussion going on. As for being put off in DS, I won’t use that as your measuring stick any more. Warlocks have changed a lot in the latest patch and as such we have got “simpler” priority lists making it easier for the average joe to be “ok” on a lock and fit right in with standard content.
Hey! I had a Warlock before they were cool! I just never played her
When Pandas are here you can teach me how to be an amazing warlock
I’d be more than happy to do that
… And I suppose I’ll let you off for re-rolling after all you did in fact have one prior to the FoTM bandwagon arriving.
Glad to see your Warlock having some playtime! I don’t have a warlock yet but I do so admire that class, very much!
Love the shoulders!
Same! I was so happy when I learned I could buy them with Justice Points. They really make the look, I think.
