“Dethling” Sums Up Cataclysm Pretty Well

His wing stayed in just long enough for this picture to be taken…

A few months ago my good friend, Casadella, shared with me an eBay store that was selling “Dethling” figurines; cheap imitations of our good mate Deathwing. The second I laid eyes on it, I knew I had to have it. Well, he arrived from China a little while ago, and is now a part of Disconcur‘s studio backdrop. Look at it! It’s so awkward and amazing, what’s not to love?! Best $25 I have ever spent.

I was going to write a big ol’ Dear Cataclysm post, but when I looked up and saw him staring back at me with his beady, bright orange eye, I realised that he is a much better summary than any long winded post I could write. Like Dethling’s creator, Blizzard had the best of intentions when they made the expansion, but unfortunately they failed with the execution. The path may have been long and rough, but kiilling this guy with some of the best friends a girl could hope to have was a truly epic experience and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Yes, we took a bit of a beating  – especially during the last months — but we’ve made it to the other side mostly in-tact!

I absolutely LOVE Mists of Pandaria and I’m glad I didn’t give the game up like I was tempted to so many times during Cata. Thank you, Dethling, for reminding me that even poorly painted, oddly proportioned clouds have silver linings!

EDIT: I just noticed that the price on Dethling has practically doubled since I bought him. I guess he’s now “vintage”?
